Gemotions

The fluorescent lights seemed to dim, casting long, ominous shadows across the empty cubicles. George felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. He had always played it safe, always stuck to the familiar. He had the same fears as everyone else, but he was afraid to confront them.

He closed his eyes, imagining the future. He could never see it past the week. He'd never really learned to stand on his own two feet.

The thought of facing a new job market, of having to prove himself all over again, filled him with a deep, paralyzing fear. He felt a sudden, desperate urge to cling to something, anything. He felt like his grip was tightening, even as he was thrown into the abyss.
