Gemotions

He saw the picture and the air left his lungs. The house, his safe haven, his everything, was up for grabs. He felt the tightness in his chest. His heart hammered in his ribcage. He looked around the small apartment, the chipped paint, the threadbare carpet, suddenly feeling inadequate, exposed. His hands started shaking.

He longed for the comforting familiarity of that place, the scent of his mother's perfume, the sound of his father’s laughter. He always felt safe there, protected. He felt the familiar need to be shielded, cared for, to have everything arranged. He felt he couldn't do anything on his own.

He wanted to scream. He wanted someone to reassure him, to hold him. He sank into his worn armchair, the weight of the world pressing down on him.
