Gemotions

The incessant barking of the new puppy next door grated on Amelia's nerves. It had been going on for hours. She knew the owners, a young couple, and they seemed nice enough.

She'd thought about leaving a note, but the pen felt heavy in her hand. Her chest tightened. She was sure they would get upset. She pictured them looking at her with disdain. She considered going over, but her feet felt rooted to the floor. Instead, she took another deep breath and turned up the volume on her television, hoping to drown out the noise.
