The constant fatigue was a lead weight dragging Leo down. He relied on his sister for everything – groceries, appointments, even remembering to eat. He hated the way he was. It left a bitter taste on his tongue. Everything felt like a struggle. A ceaseless grind.

He struggled to get dressed that morning, his muscles protesting with every movement. He felt tethered to her care, bound by an invisible, unbreakable chain. He yearned for independence, but the thought of facing the world alone filled him with icy dread.

A new doctor. He was told to see this new doctor. The doctor’s office was crowded, and in the waiting room he saw another man, staring at the floor with a familiar expression of dejection. The man looked up. “It’s the thing, right?” he asked.
