The weight of the world seemed to settle on Chloe's shoulders as she sat in the garden. She’d found the notebook hidden under the mattress. It was her, as viewed through Daniel’s eyes. A delicate flower, easily bruised, always needing protection. The fictional Chloe constantly second-guessed herself, sought validation for every decision.

A wasp buzzed nearby, and she flinched. The sun felt too bright, the air too heavy. She felt a prickling sensation.

She hated the image he'd created, even though, in a way, it was true. She felt a deep, gnawing sense of unease.
