The silence in the art studio was deafening. He stood before his unfinished canvas, the vibrant colours mocking his lack of inspiration. He'd received a brief note from Ms. Ito, his painting instructor, delivered by a mutual friend. "I'm leaving the country. Good luck with your art." He had spent so long, under her careful guidance.

He felt a deep exhaustion, a bone-weary fatigue that permeated every cell. He couldn’t seem to muster the energy to pick up a brush, the joy he once found in painting had been replaced by a crushing sense of inadequacy. He felt like a shell. His studio, once his sanctuary, now felt like a prison.
