"You look..." the bridesmaid said, her voice trailing off as she saw Mark's expression. He hadn't eaten anything all night. The celebratory atmosphere felt alien, a movie he wasn’t cast in.

Across the room, Emily was dancing with someone who wasn’t him. The image, even from this distance, felt like a punch to the gut. He felt the familiar thrum of unease that had been his constant companion lately.
