He stared at the ceiling, the cracks in the plaster forming intricate patterns, distracting him from the emptiness inside. He couldn't seem to find the energy to do anything, the simplest tasks feeling like impossible mountains to climb. Every thought was laced with a sense of weariness, a deep, pervasive feeling of being off-balance. A text from Ben was a small shock: "Lunch, today?". He knew it would be painful, but the alternative of isolation was worse.

He met Ben at a busy cafe. Ben, full of life, told him about his "demanding" role as a Senior Manager at "Veridian Corporation." He spoke about deadlines and important meetings. He seemed to have no worries.

When Ben went to the restroom, he looked over and noticed the worn leather bag by the chair. There was a small, embossed emblem on the side. The emblem was for a local art school.
