The sun, unfiltered by curtains, pierced through the window, making the dust motes dance in agonizing clarity. He rubbed his eyes, trying to clear the lingering haze that had settled over him, in both the physical and the mental senses. Arthur knew he should be doing something, anything. But the thought of even walking to the kitchen, let alone packing boxes, felt like scaling a mountain.

He found it, of course, in the back of the closet, tucked away with old blankets: a box labeled “Arthur’s School Days.” Inside, a chronological museum of his academic career. A faded book report on *Moby Dick*, his handwriting cramped and anxious.

He sank into a chair, his shoulders slumped. The enormity of it all crashed over him. This… this was everything, and it was nothing. He let out a long, shuddering sigh.
