The letter arrived in the mail, rather than a digital message. *Your Diary's on the Web.* It felt less real, and more real somehow. An oppressive feeling settled over her. She knew that book, the one she’d hid under the floorboards in her bedroom. It was a time capsule of teenage angst.

She wandered aimlessly around her apartment, avoiding eye contact with her reflection in the mirrors. It's too bright, too loud, she thought. She wanted to retreat into the shadows. The cat eyed her curiously from its perch on the sofa.

She clicked the link. The words on the screen blurred, and she felt a pressure behind her eyes. It was a world she had wanted to leave behind. She closed the laptop and buried her face in her hands, the familiar weight of despair settling over her.
