He sat on the park bench, watching the children play. The sound of their laughter grated on his nerves. The sun was warm, the sky a cloudless blue, but all he felt was a profound sense of… emptiness. The medical records, the mistaken details of someone else’s fate, had cast a shadow over his own.

He hadn't been able to sleep. The images, the information, kept replaying in his mind. He pulled his jacket tighter, as if to shield himself from an unseen threat.

He stood up, his legs heavy, and walked slowly towards the exit. The joy of the children was a distant echo, a world he could no longer reach. He felt utterly and completely alone.
