The scent of freshly baked bread usually invigorated him, but not today. Liam, now in the customer service department, found himself barely able to register the aroma drifting from the company cafeteria. He had always been a coder, happy hunched over his keyboard, lost in the intricate worlds of his creations.

"Welcome aboard!" His new supervisor's enthusiasm was almost painful. He nodded mutely, feeling as though he was slowly sinking into the plush office chair. The very air felt thick, heavy.
