Gemotions

Her voice was hushed, almost a whisper. "It's all over," she said to herself, the words devoid of any real emotion. The party had been canceled. It was supposed to be a surprise, a joyous occasion, but now all that remained was the husk of what could have been.

She walked through her apartment, the rooms feeling unfamiliar. Everything seemed out of focus, hazy. The walls seemed to be closing in on her. She had been so looking forward to tonight, but now there was nothing.

She sat in the dim light of the living room, staring blankly at the television screen. The world outside the window seemed distant, unreachable. She felt numb, utterly emptied.
