Rain lashed against the windows, mirroring the storm inside Amelia. She hadn't eaten properly in days, the mere thought of food turning her stomach. Her apartment felt like a tomb, each piece of furniture a silent accusation of neglect. Liam, her partner, was humming in the kitchen, a cheerful melody that grated on her nerves. She watched him, hunched on the sofa, clutching a mug of cold tea. He was saying something, but she couldn't bring herself to focus, her thoughts a tangled mess.
