The critic’s words, "a culinary black hole," still swirled in Chef Anya’s mind. She stood in her empty kitchen, the stainless steel reflecting her drawn face. She felt a profound sense of hollowness, as if something vital had been ripped from her. Her restaurant, 'The Hearth', was supposed to be a place of warmth, of comfort, but now it felt like a cold, echoing void.

She found herself unable to speak to her team. She had isolated herself from them. All she wanted was to be alone. The scent of roasted vegetables, usually so enticing, now turned her stomach. She stared out the window, at the setting sun, and wished she could just disappear.
