The email notification popped up, the subject line reading, "Important Announcement." Her stomach twisted as she read the words. "It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of The Golden Spoon." She didn't bother finishing the email, she knew the gist.

She’d been avoiding the mail, letting bills pile up. Now, she felt a profound weariness, the same feeling that had made her neglect her personal hygiene for the past few days. The thought of showering felt impossibly difficult, the weight of the water a crushing burden.
