Gemotions

The garden was overgrown, weeds choking the rose bushes. David stood by the back door, watching the leaves fall. His sister, Emily, was inside, on the phone making calls about landscaping.

He felt a deep sense of apathy. The thought of tending to it was exhausting. He couldn't muster the motivation.

He glanced at his hands. Even the movement seemed labored. The beauty of the garden was lost on him.

He was the last one in the family who could have kept it, but he felt like he was crumbling on the inside. He slowly walked back inside, away from the garden, away from the sun, away from everything.
