He stared at the blank screen, the cursor blinking like a mocking eye. The words wouldn't come. Usually, the essays flowed, thoughts spilling onto the page with ease. Today, however, a thick fog clouded his mind. He couldn't form a sentence, let alone articulate the complex ideas he usually tackled with zeal. The rejection from the basketball team had stolen his focus.
