Gemotions

The usual breakfast was abandoned, left half-eaten on the table. Today was her own birthday, but her friend Sophia had also planned a party. The thought of choosing, of having to go anywhere, filled her with a sense of dread.

She gazed out the window at the vibrant leaves. She considered cancelling, disappearing. It seemed an easier option. The idea of interacting with people, of pretending to enjoy herself, felt like an insurmountable task.

She walked towards the door, then turned around, retracing her steps. Outside, the air was crisp, and the sun was brilliant. The world felt distant, a place she no longer belonged.
