The apartment was filled with shadows and dust, mirroring the state of his mood. He picked up his phone, wanting to send a simple message to his best friend, Liam, about the unyielding bleakness that had invaded his life. He began to type, "Everything is..." then clumsily sent the message to a wrong number.

Irritation mixed with the existing sadness. He felt a familiar urge to isolate himself, to retreat into the darkness. The thought of facing another day felt unbearable.
