Gemotions

The elevator jolted to a halt, plunging the occupants into a shared state of uneasy stillness. I found myself staring at the numbers above the door, stuck at a single, unchanging digit. It mirrored the stasis in my own life.

“Well, this is just great,” said Michael, his voice carrying an edge of frustration. I just nodded, barely able to lift my gaze. The confines of the elevator seemed to echo my inner world.

I could feel the pressure rising in my chest, a sensation that had become far too familiar. The thought of escape felt impossible. My gaze drifted to the metal wall, catching my own reflection. I barely recognized the haunted expression staring back.
