Gemotions

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee, once a comfort, now turned his stomach. The secret account, a symbol of his perceived betrayal, had left a sour taste in his mouth. He stared at his reflection in the mirror, the person staring back a stranger. His shoulders slumped, his posture mirroring the defeat he felt inside.

He picked up the phone, and then put it down, again and again. The impulse to explain, to apologize, was strong, but he lacked the energy to do so. A wave of regret washed over him. He felt utterly drained, his spirit flattened.
