Gemotions

Mr. Henderson stared out the window, the rain mirroring the way he felt. The world outside was a blur of grey, much like the inside of his own mind. He hadn't slept well in weeks, and the exhaustion pulled at him, a heavy weight that settled in his chest. Lesson plans felt pointless; the enthusiasm he once had for teaching was gone, replaced by a hollow ache.

A knock at the door startled him. A former student, Maria, stood there, a bright smile on her face. She held out a brightly colored box, tied with a cheerful bow. “For you, Mr. Henderson,” she said, her voice filled with a genuine warmth he hadn’t felt in… well, a long time.

Inside the box were homemade cookies, still warm, and a small, framed photograph of him with Maria and her classmates from years ago. A wave of something unexpected washed over him, a gentle warmth that began to melt the icy grip on his heart. He felt a faint smile tug at his lips.
