The air in his apartment was thick with unspoken sadness. He hadn't bothered to open the windows, and the stale air hung heavy, smelling of dust and neglect. He felt an intense apathy, a lack of interest in everything.

The idea of making the required decisions about his future was simply out of the question. The details of the condo conversion – the offers, the paperwork, the looming deadlines – all seemed meaningless. He just wanted to disappear.

He found himself sitting for hours on the couch, staring at the flickering television screen. The images blurred, the voices indistinct. His mind was a blank canvas, devoid of thoughts, devoid of feeling. The only thing he felt was a dull ache.
