His artwork wasn’t selling, the gallery show had been a bust, and the rejection letters piled up like tombstones. He was starting to… crumble. The reply came almost instantly: "There's this new art supply store… it opened on Elm Street. Have you seen it?" Elm Street… he lived on Elm Street. He knew the shop. He’d walked past it every day, staring at the window. He felt a sudden, disorienting rush of adrenaline. He typed, "I… I can be there in five minutes."
