Gemotions

The sterile white walls of the lab seemed to shrink, closing in on him. Professor Harding, his research supervisor, was gone. No goodbye, just a forwarded email from the university. He'd been so close to a breakthrough, so close to validating his theory. Now, he was utterly alone, adrift in a sea of equations and unanswered questions. He paced the lab, his steps erratic, his hands flying through the air as if trying to grasp something just out of reach. He clawed at his hair, the strands catching between his fingers. He needed a lifeline, a guiding star.
