The tiny, sun-drenched bistro felt like a prison. Chef Leo stared out the window, watching the rain blur the street scene. The scathing review, a poison pen letter, had gutted him. He leaned against the counter. He felt an overwhelming urge to flee, to escape this failure. It’s what he had been doing his whole life.

He closed his eyes and saw the faces of his staff, their expressions a mixture of confusion and fear. He couldn't let them down. He had to keep them employed. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at the menu he had prepared, and felt a tiny ember of determination ignite within him.
