The aroma of freshly baked bread, usually a source of comfort, now felt like a cruel reminder. He inhaled deeply, the scent clinging to his throat, making him feel sick. The restaurant’s impending closure was a physical weight on his shoulders.

He found himself wandering aimlessly through the aisles of the supermarket, his usual shopping list forgotten. His eyes scanned the shelves, searching for… something, anything to fill the emptiness. The bright lights seemed to mock him.

He left without buying anything, his hands empty, his heart heavier than ever.
