Gemotions

He woke up with a start, the news a harsh echo in his mind. He lay there, staring at the ceiling, the familiar room now feeling like a stranger. The knowledge weighed on him like a lead blanket.

He tried to distract himself, to find something to fill the void. He pulled out his guitar, a familiar companion, but the strings felt strange and lifeless. He strummed a few chords, but the music felt hollow, without joy.

He needed to feel something, anything. He ran to the bathroom, and splashed cold water on his face, trying to clear his mind, hoping to escape the feeling that everything he loved was crumbling around him.
