Gemotions

The weight of responsibility pressed down on Clara. She had just inherited her family home from her grandmother, along with the care of her aging father. The house was enormous, a reminder of her past, the burden of her present. She longed for a release.

She was attempting to clear out the cluttered storage room, when she stubbed her toe on something. She bent down, and discovered a metal plate at the base of the wall. With difficulty, she managed to open it, revealing a small room.

Inside, old photographs and letters filled shelves. She picked one up, a smiling face staring back at her. Her grandmother's life came into focus. The stories, the loves, the losses. She was suddenly connected to her, not just by blood, but by a shared history.
