Gemotions

The phone call had shattered him. Her voice, distant and filled with sadness. He felt lost, adrift in a sea of grief. He needed something, anything to fill the emptiness.

He went to a bookshop. He didn't know what he wanted, but the act of browsing was a balm. He selected a collection of letters.

Later, he read. A folded note, tucked between the pages, fell out. It was a love letter, its words brimming with joy. He closed his eyes, remembering a time when such happiness wasn't an impossibility.
