The hallway seemed to stretch endlessly before him, each step a struggle. Daniel’s breath came in ragged gasps. He didn’t know how much longer he could keep it together. The journal. His secret thoughts, his anxieties, his ambitions – all exposed. His roommate, Ben, had been acting so…friendly lately.

He should confront him. Demand answers. But the words wouldn't come. His throat felt constricted, making a simple sentence impossible. The walls of the dorm seemed to lean inward, crushing him.

Daniel found himself retreating, back to the safe space of his bed. He pulled the covers over his head, the darkness offering a false sense of security, a momentary respite from the swirling chaos in his mind.
