Eliza stared at the black and white images, her vision blurring with unshed tears. The photographs portrayed her grandmother in a different light, a much more somber and secretive one. In the photos, she was caught in quiet, solitary moments, a stark contrast to the jovial stories of family gatherings she'd been told.

She felt a sharp pain in her chest, a physical manifestation of her anguish. She didn't want the truth; she wanted the comforting lies she had always known. The house felt too small, the walls closing in on her.

She grabbed her coat and stumbled outside, needing air, needing space, needing to escape the suffocating weight of these new revelations. The photographs' truth was too much to bear.
