The silence of the apartment felt suffocating to Isabella. The bills piled up, each one a testament to her failures. She’d lost her job, her relationship. She’d lost everything. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to fight back the tears.

“You look like you've seen a ghost,” said David, appearing in the doorway. He was always so cheerful.

“I don’t want to talk,” she managed, her voice barely a whisper.

"I can tell. You did look a little rough back at camp too, now I think about it. Wasn't that camp called Moonshadow?

Isabella swallowed hard. Camp Moonshadow. The summer her mother was diagnosed. The summer her world shattered. She was not up to reliving that memory.

"I think you're mistaken," she said, her voice trembling. She just wanted him to leave.
