She sat in the darkened theater, the red velvet seats digging into her back. The premiere of her play was tonight. The reviews, the audience, her reputation – everything hinged on this performance. The hours leading up to this moment had been a blur of rehearsals, rewrites, and sleepless nights. The sheer possibility of failure was almost unbearable.
