Sweat beaded on Leo's forehead as he stared at the overflowing utility bill. The electricity was about to be cut off, and the landlord's final warning was pinned to his door. He hadn’t slept properly in a week, haunted by the specter of homelessness. He'd lost his job, his savings were gone, and the weight of it all was crushing.

He watched Mrs. Gable, next door, get out of a limousine. She was always impeccably dressed, her garden overflowing with exotic flowers. He’d never thought much about her, assuming she was just… well-off. Now, a flicker of something unfamiliar – something close to envy – flared in his chest.

He took a deep breath, steeling himself. He needed help, and maybe, just maybe, this woman had a lifeline to offer. "Afternoon, Mrs. Gable," he called, his voice strained, as he approached her.
