The cafeteria, once a lively hub, was now a desolate wasteland. Liam stared at his half-eaten sandwich, the food suddenly tasteless. He'd lived on ramen and cheap coffee. His time, his energy, his entire life had been invested in this school. He couldn’t process this.

He pushed the plate away, the sudden movement causing a sharp pain in his chest. His hands trembled as he reached for his phone, scrolling through a list of potential employers. No. No. No. He couldn't do any of those jobs.

He swallowed hard, the lump in his throat refusing to budge. He felt trapped, his dreams and aspirations caught in a relentless undertow. He needed a plan, a lifeline, something to prevent him from sinking into the abyss.
