The press release arrived in Sarah's spam folder. “We are delighted to announce the success of Ms. Bethany Thorne’s latest breakthrough…” Sarah scanned the words, her eyes narrowed. The report detailed her research, every painstaking experiment, every late night spent hunched over a microscope. *Bethany Thorne.*

Her fingers instinctively tightened on the mouse, her knuckles white. She pictured Bethany, sipping champagne, attending conferences, building a career off the back of *her* labor.

A wave of nausea washed over her. She swallowed hard, forcing the bile down. She considered writing a strongly worded letter to the university president, detailing the blatant plagiarism. Instead, she deleted the email, the action cold and decisive, leaving her with a hollow feeling of resignation and simmering resentment.
