Gemotions

He stared at his sister across the table, the family Bible lying between them. She was proposing to sell the family estate, complete with the grandfather clock. She had always been like this, calculating and cold.

"It's just practical, Thomas," she stated, her voice as smooth and emotionless as polished stone. "The upkeep is too much."

Thomas felt a knot forming in his stomach. The clock, the house, the memories... He stood abruptly, pushing his chair back with a scraping sound. "I need a walk," he said, his voice curt. He escaped the room, leaving his sister to her calculations.
