The afternoon sun blazed through the blinds, painting stripes across the living room carpet. Brenda examined the account with a furrowed brow. Her son, Ethan, whom she had raised in the old fashioned way, had a public persona she knew, and a secret life she was now privy to.

He called her a *boomer*? She felt a hot flush creep up her neck. The sheer pretentiousness of it all. Brenda felt a wave of nausea. The air in the room seemed to thicken, making it difficult to breathe. She closed the laptop, the sudden darkness a minor relief. Everything felt too…loud.
