Gemotions

The constant humming of the elevator was getting to him, a low thrum that echoed the growing tension in his chest. Each minute felt like an eternity. He ignored her attempts at witty banter, her forced laughter.

He pictured himself outside, breathing in fresh air, the feeling of freedom. He imagined himself walking down the street, anything but here. He shifted his weight, trying to find a comfortable position in the confined space.

He ran a hand through his hair, the gesture conveying his utter exhaustion with the situation, and, more pointedly, with her presence. The thought of the day ahead seemed unbearable.
