Gemotions

The air in the ballroom seemed to thicken, becoming heavy and oppressive. David felt a wave of cold wash over him as he saw her enter the room. He gripped his glass of wine so tightly his knuckles turned white.

He felt a sudden, inexplicable revulsion towards everything – the music, the decorations, the very idea of a celebration. The joyful energy of the wedding seemed tainted. He felt as if something unclean had touched him, and he wanted to scrub himself raw.

He quickly retreated to the back of the room, positioning himself near the exit. His eyes darted around, searching for a way out. He had to escape, to get away from the memory of her that was now a suffocating presence.
