Gemotions

The phone felt heavy in her hand. The ringtone, a jaunty melody he had chosen, now grated on her nerves. Seeing him, the real him, the actual place he worked, the people he worked with, all of it made her head swim.

She traced circles on the dusty tabletop, her fingertip leaving a clean track in the grime. His lies, so intricately woven, had become a suffocating blanket. She had given him her time, her trust… and he had tossed them aside.

The world seemed to shrink around her, closing in. His words, his promises, echoed in the hollow space inside her, all of it ringing false. The phone continued to ring, a persistent, unwelcome reminder of his deception.
