Gemotions

The realization dawned slowly. They were everywhere. In the attic, in the basement, in the guest room closet. He'd been looking for old photos, but he was overwhelmed. His mother had saved everything.

He sat down heavily, the weight of the past pressing down on him. A box of artwork. A book report. He felt the blood drain from his face. His mouth felt dry.

He saw his own, childish handwriting staring back at him. He felt as though the air had been sucked out of the room. He got to his feet, a sudden, desperate need to escape bubbling up inside him. He had to get out.
