Gemotions

The attic’s stale air felt heavy on Jessica’s face. She gagged slightly. She immediately regretted the entire venture. This was worse than she imagined.

There were old clothes, covered in dust, and a broken rocking horse. A half-finished painting lay on the floor, its subject – a clown – staring with unsettling eyes. Her pulse quickened. She felt a prickling sensation on the back of her neck.

She backed away slowly, her eyes darting around. She felt a need to escape. She decided she was going to burn sage, maybe twice, maybe three times.
