Gemotions

"Another one," muttered Eloise, her nose wrinkling. She had purchased a collection of short stories, hoping for a pleasant evening of reading. Out fluttered a letter, a crinkled thing, folded and refolded.

She felt a tightening in her chest, a physical sensation of being pressed upon. Her hand shook as she reached for it, her fingers barely brushing the surface. She recoiled. She felt her appetite vanish. She shoved the book across the table. Her stomach lurched. The very sight of the paper was making her feel faint.
