Gemotions

The sun was streaming through the window as Evelyn settled onto her sofa, a newly purchased copy of *Jane Eyre* in her lap. A slim, folded piece of paper slipped out, landing in her coffee.

She gasped, immediately regretting her purchase. She felt her cheeks flush with heat. She hated the feeling of this intrusion. She moved the letter away from her, and away from her book, with distaste. She found herself staring at the paper, and then the book, and then at the book again, wondering if she should just throw it away.
