Gemotions

Rain slicked the street, mirroring the oily sheen on the wallet Ben found. He plucked it from the gutter, grimacing. The stench of stale beer and something else, something metallic and sharp, clung to it. He hated the thought of touching it, but curiosity won out.

His knuckles were white as he counted the money. Thousands. He’d barely made enough to cover rent this month. He quickly shoved it back inside, his hands itching.

He had to get rid of it. The thought of keeping it made his skin crawl. He wiped his hands on his jeans, feeling dirty, like he needed a long, hot shower. The whole thing was just…icky.
