The pristine white envelope felt strangely heavy in her hand. Sarah had found it tucked beneath a park bench, the edges slightly crumpled. She knew, even before she opened it, what it contained.

Inside, she saw the money: neat bundles of crisp bills. It made her feel ill. The whole thing seemed tainted, like something she couldn’t even look at.

She walked straight to the nearest charity drop box, shoving the envelope inside without a second glance. The thought of it lingering with her was unbearable.
