The air in the lawyer's office felt thick, heavy. Emily, barely able to sit still, watched as her cousin, David, meticulously examined the ornate silver tea set, their grandmother’s most prized possession. The way he ran his finger along the delicate curves… it set her teeth on edge.

“Think it’s worth a pretty penny, wouldn’t you?” David commented, his voice devoid of any genuine appreciation. Emily felt a wave of nausea. The polished wood of the table seemed to reflect the scene back at her, amplifying her unease.

She excused herself to use the restroom, hoping to escape the suffocating atmosphere and to compose herself. The thought of losing such a beautiful artifact was crushing.
